There is always this big debate about being signed to a major label or not. There is Chance The Rapper, who garnered huge success on his own, he also preaches about staying independent and that you don't need a major label to become successful and famous. There is one significant factor that most overlook and that is -- You are NOT Chance The Rapper. Reality check! A lot of artist NEED the major label. Why? -- Because you are a bad business person! As individuals, we always tend to think of ourselves much higher and qualified than we really are but where your reality and the real reality meets, you will soon discover that you lack in about every aspect of the game. If you have never been in the entertainment business, where did you get all of your experience and knowledge from? You do know that every single person that works at a label has experience, went to school, and/or received special training for what they do. That is the reason why they get paid a salary with benefits because if they didn't know it the labels wouldn't be making money. So, back to you, again. Where did you get your branding, marketing, management, accounting, time management, graphic design, web development, publicity, etc. skills from? Oh, because you own an Instagram and Twitter account, have a bunch of followers, this makes you an expert?
