The legendary God MC Jay-Z Released his 8th solo studio album "The Black Album" which was said and thought to be his retirement album back on November 14th of 2003. Although Hova returned with 4 solo studio albums as well as a 4th collaborative album with long time colaborator Kanye West.  The world was not disapointed with his return after giving us classics on the Black Album like Encore, 99 Problems, Threat, Lucifer, What More Can I Say, Allure and Dirt Off Your Shoulder. This album also marked Jay-Z and the Hip-Hop's transition to maturity from baggy throwback jersey's to the button up shirt with the hit single Change Clothes. Needless to say this was yet another Classic LP for the S. Carter, Keep going Hov!

Iconic MC Ras Kass blessed us with his time to do an exclusive with DJ DNA at Patchwerk Studios. Ras Kass is one of the first lyricist of the westcoast. In this interview he talks about his early days rapping and the people that came up with him. His passion for music has kept his legacy alive.

"I guess you gotta be a fan first. You know if i didn't love this shit, and if I wasn't encouraged or motivated by the people before me who that made dope music, then I wouldn't have a starting point."

Ras Kass talked about new artists and how he feels about them. He also talked about what he prefers them to do as far as their music goes. He made sure to talk about rhetorical music and lyrics that new artist today create.

"If i gave you my time to listen to ten songs on your project and all you did was repeat the same thing, come on bruh," he exclaimed.

Six years ago today Hard in da Paint rapper Waka Flocka Flame released his first album Flockaveli on Asylum record label. The album smashes were "O Let's Do It","Hard in da Paint" and "No Hands."

Flockaveli debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 37,000 copies, and, as of August 15, 2011, has sold 285,000 copies in the U.S. The album also received positive reviews from critics, who complimented its musical intensity, brazen lyrics, and gangsta rap ethos.

Happy Birthday Weezzy!

Multi-Grammy award winning and Louisiana native rapper Lil Wayne turns 34 years old today. He is best known for his "Tha Carter" series of albums. He won four Grammy Awards in 2009, for his sixth studio album “Tha Carter III”. Wayne first appeared on the scene in 1991, at the age of nine; he was signed to Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label, and half of the duo The B.G.'z, alongside fellow New Orleans based rapper Lil' Doogie. Then in 1996,Wayne formed the southern hip hop group Hot Boys. Followed not long by his solo debut album in 1999 “Tha Block Is Hot”. He is now the CEO of his own label, Young Money Entertainment, which was founded in 2005.

Seventeen years ago today Philly born rapper Eve released her first album “Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders' First Lady” on Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Interscope Records. This album gave hip hop hit singles like “What Ya’ll Want,” “Love is Blind,” and “Gotta Man.”
