After the 4th Mobb Deep album, Prodigy decided to take a break from the group to deliver his 1st solo album "H.N.I.C." (Head Nigga In Charge) November 14th of 2000. Prodigy enlisted a number of producers for the album, including The Alchemist, EZ Elpee, Rockwilder, Just Blaze and his Mobb Deep partner Havoc. H.N.I.C. was well received and although his lead single "Keep It Thoro" was only moderately rotated with radio and video play it was a street anthem and favorite with true Hip-Hop and mixtape fans worldwide.
