The Official Rules and Regulations of [RAWS] 66 EMCEE'S WILD STYLE BATTLE & EXPO – contains the participant eligibility/entry requirements, standard procedures and the rules and regulations. 

[RAWS] 66 EMCEE'S WILD STYLE BATTLE & EXPO –  is a competitive event that provides emcees/rappers with opportunities to showcase their artistry and skills in spitting rhymes and performing for media exposure, championship titles and the opportunity to open for super group DeLa Soul at Ram's Head in Baltimore, MD January 2017 (Exact date TBA). 

Freestyle Rap Defined 

Freestyle Rap commonly refers to rap lyrics which are improvised through a cappella or with instrumental beats, i.e. performed with no previously composed lyrics, or "off the top of the head".  

ENTRY CRITERIA 

1. The emcee/rapper must abide by the eligibility rules of [RAWS] 66 EMCEE'S WILD STYLE BATTLE & EXPO.

2. This is a Freestyle and Performance (non-freestyle) competition.
 
3. No age limit required however each participant will be carded upon entry to venue.

4. Entry/Registration fee is a non-refundable $66 until November 16, 2016.  After the 16th registration will be $132.  

5. Waiver & Release of Liability: Each emcee/rapper must submit a Release of Liability Form and Waiver prior to the competition from liability for any accident or injury occurring to the artist/emcee/rapper prior to, during, or after the competition. 

6. The emcees/rapper is required to complete and submit the registration form prior to the date of the competition. 

COMPETITION BREAKDOWN 

1. Battle will be held with a pool of initial registrants who will then begin a competition process of elimination and then a bracket system will be implemented.  Brackets will be 32, 16, 8, 4 and then the championship.  Winners will advance while losers are eliminated without a chance of returning. There will be a final winner selected from both the Freestyle and the Performance (non-freestyle) catagories.   

RULES and GUIDELINES 

1. Do not bite (copy) someone else work. Your freestyle must be 100% original material and shall not infringe upon any third party copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. It is ACCEPTABLE for your work to contain vulgar words and sexually explicit lyrics. 

2. The organizer/promoter will appoint the timekeeper/referee who may be a celebrity veteran emcee.  He/She will be provided with a stopwatch.  There will also be an additional party who will be responsible for indicating the end of each round. The clock starts from the beginning of the first line spoken by the competitor. 

3. For the preliminary round of competition each emcee will be given two rounds each for one (1) minute, for the semi-final round each emcee rhymes twice for one (1) minute per round, in the final round each emcee rhymes twice for one (1) minute. In case of a tie another round (OT) will be provided to break the tie. 

4. Each FREESTYLE emcee must rhyme over the same beat as their opponent. The Freestyle competitors will be given a random topic, subject matter or other direction that will test their "off the dome" skills. Judges will consider over all skill which consists of composure, wit, and the ability to creatively use the subject matter provided. Non-freestyle participants will perform their material over randomly selected beats and be judged on showmanship, the crowd "wow" factor and overall skill. 

5. By participating in this event you permit the recording of your contributions and assign to the organizers the complete copyright and all other rights in your contributions for use in all media. During the entire course of the competition participants will be photographed and recorded both visually and audibly.  

6. Competitors who are rude, abusive or deemed otherwise unsuitable by the organizers will be disqualified from the competition and escorted from the event premises.

JUDGING 

1. The judging panel will consist of five (5) judges. 

2. Judges must make their decision as to the winner of each round independently and will have an opportunity to explain their decisions. 

3. In the case of a round where the judges cannot reach a decision each emcee will be asked to perform an extra verse for forty five (45) seconds and the freestyle concept/topic will be given by the judges. Non freestylists may select the material they wish to perform. It is highly encouraged that this this process be avoided by the judges. 

4. Decisions by the judges are final. There is no appeal process. PROTESTS are prohibited and will not be accepted regarding any score or result of a decision. 

PRIZES 

Grand Champion: 2 Opening slots (Freestylist & Performance emcee will share the opening act slot) for super group DeLa Soul in Jan 2017 and possibly return to future 66 Emcee competitions to defend their title.
